There are a couple of interesting places in Spain to do your internship. Internship in Spanish is what we will be discussing in today’s post.

A hugely popular place for tourists and interns alike, Spain is a beautiful country filled with a rich history and dynamic culture. The influence of the once-brilliant Spanish Empire can still be seen through the country’s stunning cathedrals, gourmet food, and brilliant art and music.

The internship provides opportunities to integrate the skills, knowledge, and methods gained through your coursework with professional roles, responsibilities, and activities in a real-life supervised setting.

The Internship in Spain program provides an unequaled opportunity to live in and gain professional experience. You’ll be fully plunged into the Spanish language and culture as you’ll both live and intern with Spanish speakers.

When and Where to Look for an Internship

Most internships in Spain are offered over the summer. Since the Spanish government does not allow international interns to be paid, most internship opportunities are found through third-party internship program providers.

Many programs provide Spanish language training practice, like Linguistic Horizons. Most already have established relationships with Spanish companies and organizations. Look out for the program application deadlines, as they tend to differ.

How to Apply for an Internship in Spainish

Starting the application process for an internship can be long and tiring. However, if you have decided on where you want to apply and understand the requirements, all you have to do is follow a simple step-by-step guide.

To be qualified for an internship in any company/organization in Spain, you must be part of an educational institution. This is owed to the fact that internships are usually included in the obligatory university program.

For your internship to be legal, you must get permission from your school and the company which will hire you temporarily. All three parties, including yourself, will have to sign the agreement before the program.
The paid internship in Spain requires international students to apply for a NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjero). The NIE is a document that allows the EU and non-EU citizens to receive the green light for getting an internship. Without an NIE, students cannot get a Social Security code, without which a salary is not possible.

Social Security number is important for students who are getting paid internships. The company responsible for hiring is also responsible for putting the intern in the company’s Social Security package.
The final step is to receive a valid insurance policy, usually secured by the school and university you are enrolled.
